Of course, the first step in the manufacture of a stainless-steel pipe, is  the production of the steel itself. Most of the world’s steel is produced using a basic oxygen furnace (BOF), in this process pure oxygen is blown through molten iron ore – the highly exothermic reaction between iron and oxygen is used to remove impurities and reduce the carbon content to around 1%.7

Those pistons feature a 1.5mm/1.5mm/3.0mm ring pack, with a set of CP rings consisting of a steel top ring, Napier second ring, and a standard tension oil ring. But I didn’t calibrate them or EQ them. I listened to them in their native state, with ‘Direct’ engaged on the Denon to make sure there was no sound processing.

Gayle Vollmer, engineering services for Hartwig in Houston (Okuma’s dealer in the area) said there’s also a move to use harder materials for the parts of a fracking block that are most susceptible to wear, and an attempt to redesign fracking blocks so that more components are easily replaceable. But he surmised that current demand for high production has put such research “on the back burner.”

Whatever new cartridge the service comes with will hopefully be at least 6mm to 7mm. I would think 260 Remington makes sense related to the parent .308 case. It seems like the m14 platform would work just fine. I can see the service keeping the 5.56 and the m4 platform for what it does best. I have noticed that powders have improved significantly in the last decade. Projectiles have gotten better also. It is imperative that our warriors get the best equipment we can provide. And, we as a nation have to be ready to change, adapt and prepare ourselves for the new challenges the world offers.

The Mahoning County Career & Technical Center and Eastern Gateway Community College have the right programs in place, but it’s a matter of getting students and their parents to consider a skilled trade as a viable career path, they said.
